I’m voting for Trayvon Martin because he was shot before he had the opportunity to vote. Closer to home Bo Morrison was shot just north of Milwaukee. Our communities are not safe because of laws like Stand Your Ground and the Castle Doctrine. They’re not safe because of the criminalization of people of color and police brutality and stop and frisk.

We need to fight on issues like immigration, and against the Prison Industrial Complex, and for the environment, which are issues the candidates aren’t talking about.

I’m voting so I have a say. I’m voting to continue the work of organizations like @DreamDefenders (https://twitter.com/dreamdefenders) who are doing important work on these issues.

Although voting may seem like the least important political decision you’ll ever make, it can lead, like a gateway drug, to a lifetime of political involvement and organizing.
